Attractions:

Situated just off the New England Highway, near to Rutherford Airfield where you can partake of joy flights on the weekend. The property is within easy reach of trendy Morpeth, Barrington Tops National Park, the port of Newcastle and its pristine beaches, the vineyards of the Hunter, and historic Maitland - you can access all these within an easy drive of Peacock Grove.

Description:

Peacock Grove is located less than 15 minutes drive from Maitland. We are on the banks of the Hunter River and you will stay in a converted farmhouse that was built in 1927. The present owners have restored the house to its former glory and have in fact made the living areas larger and even more comfortable.

At Peacock Grove you will stay in one of two separate and private queen-size rooms which have their own facilities and individual split system reverse cycle air conditioners which are extremely quiet. Your room opens directly onto a shared verandah where, weather permitting, you will be served a breakfast that rates a mention in many of our guests comments.

If you rise early enough you will often see kangaroos at close quarters. The view from the verandah is one of tree-covered hills in the distance forming the backdrop to undulating farmland. The property comprises some magnificent silky oak trees that provide shade to the house, gardens and our cattle.

The farm comprises 150 acres (63ha) of which 30 acres are devoted to 2000 olive trees that are just coming into production. The remainder of the land is devoted to cattle, crops, a large lake and areas of natural vegetation. We have recently obtained organic (and biodynamic) certification for all our farm produce and we would be happy to explain to you what this entails.

As our guests you are welcome to specify what time you would like breakfast and you have until 11am to check out.

If you stay a second night at Peacock Grove you will also be able to explore the walks on our property and will be able to visit the nearby vineyards and the historic Morpeth or even take in a visit to Maitland jail which is now open to visitors. You will also be able to sample one of our many local restaurants which cater for all tastes and some of which have award winning cuisine.

We look forward to being of service.

Chris and Gloria Peacock.
